Models

The following models can be used in your own custom levels. To use the player models in single-player mode, you may have to execute the command 'set allowillegalskins 1' at the console before changing the skin. All player models come with index images that allow you to select them from the MULTIPLAYER -> PLAYER CONFIG menu system in deathmatch or cooperative games.

Heretic II uses the Flex Model (FM) format, along with a separate M8 (8-bit mipmap) skin. Flex Models are easily converted from Quake 2 (MD2) models. You can download an MD2 to FM converter from File Planet (you'll need to sign in - it's free). You will also need a utility to alter the skin directory path - FM Skinnames Utility. To create your own models, try the free Quake Modeller v.9.0b (you will have to join the QuArK group). Or download the older Version 8 immediately. QuArK (Quake Army Knife) is the level editor I use to create my own Heretic II maps, and to convert images to M8s.

The programs listed above allow you to create your own models - none of them are required to use the models on these pages. The ZIP files contain everything you need, including installation instructions.
